Earthing a TNS

Well if the DNO has inspected it and passed it as OK what else can you do?

An old REC nearly local to me used to fit something a bit like an EC14 as standard, never liked it but thousands were fitted.

My own local REC was a conductor sweated onto the lead of the PILC although sometimes it was no thicker than than a bit of fusewire

Nothing, but in exactly the same way you would not regard a verbal assurance that work after the meter was OK, and would regard proof in the form of test results and a signed certificate as essential then you should not accept a shrug and an "it's OK" from some visiting DNO engineer.

As a qualified professional you know that putting EC14 clamps onto service cables is not always OK, so unless you have proof that the DNO says that this particular one is OK then you cannot say that to the best of your knowledge and belief that it is.

Therefore you cannot say that to the best of your knowledge and belief 131.8 has been complied with.

so you'd be happy with it if they came round, tested it and issued you with a certificate or sent you a letter saying it was ok?
