If I understand you correctly, the cable that you labeled thermostat wire in your image is really the receiver cable?

I don't suppose the loose yellow wire needs to go with the other yellow wire (this joins on to a black wire going up to the boiler?)

Nope, I'm afraid not. Difference here is the thermostat has been completed removed (not just bypassed as per last week) With both red wires on the same connector as the white wire the receiver is powered but it's not activating the boiler when I try and call for heat. Any thoughts?

If you break the circuit, it must be reconnected by another means.
