elec shower prob

i fitted a new shower and the pull switch was live all the time ie no cord to pull. will this cause shower to trip out .switched mains off to install but when i commisioned it water hot on number 10 but when i tried to lower the temp control it cut the hot water off and went cold any help please

Maybe, depends how its been wired wrongly.

Problem # 2. What exactly did you do? Please make it understandable by seperating the steps with line returns and punctuation, as I am doing here.

What cut off? Did the MCB trip? Did the RCD trip? Did a fuse blow? Or was the event localised to within the shower? Did the shower work afterwards?
 
the rcb or mcb didnt trip, sounded like the solenoid clicking on, heated the water then by turning the dial back to a cooler temp it went cold .turned shower off .then tried again but still ran cold does the pull cord have to be turned off and on again to heat the water in shower
 
So when you turn the variable dial back up to warm, the water gets no hotter?
