Hello

I have recently changed my c/u to a new wylex model as the old one was very dated and on checking it i found just peices of wire in the fuses.
I have used connector blocks to connect the old wires (from the circuits in the house) to the new wires (coming out of the new c/u (the new c/u is lower down than the original one)). All works fine apart from the shower which seems to trip the 40amp mcb every now and again. It's wired in 6mm and is conneced with a 30amp connector block (for now) but the problem is the shower is quite old and I have no idea of the wattage so I dont know if this is the correct sizes.
Any ideas of how i can find the wattage?
And, could this be a problem with the mcb or the shower?

Cheers

To find the power of the shower you need to know how many amps it's using. For that you need a clamp meter?
Can you not find out from the manufacturer? Is there any info inside the cover?
Connector blocks are not the best way to connect your wiring. You would be better off using crimps and heat-shrink sleeving.

I would be inclined to replace the 6mm² cable with 10mm² anyway.

I hope you realise that all the work you've done so far is notifiable! :o

yeh i did know that, i've just qualified as a domestic installer and need to get this job checked by the NIC.
I've ordered a clamp meter today so when that comes i'll get it sorted. cheers for your advice.
