My shower packed in today the pulley switch light comes on but when you switch on the shower there doesn't seem to be power going to it,also the red light on the pulley switch fades and goes out.

Anyone got an ideas could it be the pulley ?

Do you have to turn it on at the pull switch for water to flow at all? It's usual with electric showers to be like that as they usually have an electrically operated solenoid valve, so no power = no water.

If yours is like that then clearly you are getting power to the shower. That, coupled with the red light fading when you actually turn the shower on, says that you've probably got a loose connection in the switch.

Turn it off at the CU, remove the switch and look. If there are any signs of overheating you'll have to cut back the cable past any damaged insulation or discoloured copper, and replace the switch.

no you don't have to turn the pull switch on for the water to flow but if you didn't the water would just run cold

What shower is it?

I'd open the shower first, look at the wiring - any signs of burning, bin it.

Open the shower switch, and looks for the same. Any damage, replace the switch and cut back wiring to new.

Before you replace anything, tell us:

Cable size (or approx dimensions) and approx length fusebox to shower
Shower rating
Fuse/MCB rating
Is it RCD protected

light fading out at the switch indicated a bad connection at the terminals of the switch.
That sould be the first place you look after turning the power off at the fuse board.

you will undoubtedly find a black and charred terminal with a burnt wire in it..
you need a new switch and some slack on the cable..
