I have a dolphin bathrooms shower in my bathroom that does not work. I have isolated the problem to what looks like a transformer in the loft. Can anyone tell me what this part is.its spec is: 230v 0.5a 50hz
it also says 15mins on/ 45 mins off on the label. It is made by APL .

How do you know it is this part causing the problem? That sounds more like a transformer for a fan, to be honest. What cables go to it? and where do they come from?

What sort of shower is it? Does it heat the water itself or does it have hot and cold feeds?

It has big 240 volt cable going to it and standard 3 core cable going to shower. Th shower has hot and cold feed to it.

I know that power is going to it but not out the other side

try taking it to a wholesalers and tell them where it came from and see if they can help you find a replacement.

You couldn't take a picture of the thing in your loft, could you ? Its not a pump, is it, that is somehow switched on/off by the shower rather than flow sensors ?

True, but you should never discount the potential missing of the obvious if you don't know what you're looking at. The spec on the label ain't no transformer spec......
