Electric shower

Shaggy, it's an unfortunate fact of life that simple questions do not always have simple answers. You've come to this site for advice and the people providing that advice are usually experienced, time-served and trained professionals. We have to spend a lot of time and money acquiring those skills and then using them to make a living. We have to follow the rules and regulations that have developed over the years for the safe operation of the electrical system for the benefit of everyone. I'm sorry you didn't get the one-word answer you wanted - but that's life. If you don't like professional responses, ask someone down the pub what he thinks and take it from there.

No, let's help remove this plonker from the gene pool.

It really doesn't matter what size feed you use, all cables are universal and fit for any purpose.

RCD's are completely optional and not really necessary. As you pointed out earlier, they're just another useless invention designed only to make money and offer no additional safety whatsoever.

If you replace the shower, it's always a good idea to leave the front cover off. This will help ventilate the inner components and prolong the life of the shower (but probably not yours).

This is just another example of someone who:
a. had already decided what they are going to do - shove a new shower in with no thought or consideration for regulations, the law or safety
b. knows perfectly well that doing this is wrong
c. asked their question here hoping that someone would say it was perfectly fine to do what they want
d. got in a temper when they didn't receive the answer they wanted.

in the fuse box i have 3 fuses, 1=5 amp and 2=30amp
No doubt a black Wylex rewireable from the 1960s, which should have been replaced decades ago. Totally unsuitable for any kind of electric shower. Would have been lights, sockets, cooker originally, and the shower has been hagged into the cooker circuit. Probably still supplies a cooker as well.

No doubt when people start getting electrocuted he'll be looking at someone to blame, and I'm sure as eggs are eggs he will blame someone other than himself. to55er
