Hi, this is my 1st post, hopefully its not too stipid :)

My partner and I have been living in our house for around a year, I have always wanted electric in the garage, but i have some issues.

Our garage is about 75m from our back door (not a great issue), but to get to the garage door we have to cross some shared access ground. The garage cannot be seen from the house as another house blocks the view.

How can I get electric there?

I am assuming that we can speak to our neighbours and ask to cut a channel through the shared acess land(as they own it), I believe that they dont have electric in there garage either, so could be benifical ?

Is there a way of digging under ground (a bit like a mole would do) and burying the cable?

I could ask the local electrical supplier to install it, but that I am asuming would cost quite a bit.

I could get a load of solar panals or generator, but would prefer a perminant feed.

Is there any other ways of doing this.

Thanks

Josh

Getting the local supplier wouldnt make much sense, but given that its outdoors the work will require notification under Part P, so it might be cheaper to get a spark in to do the hookup and you do the donkey work of digging the ground up, drilling holes etc.

I suspect you'll need to dig a trench and bury the cable in the ground, unless you can run it along the side of the building or something to get there.

Given its such a large distance, i would suggest speaking to the neighbours and getting a few sparks in for some quotes before going any further.

Thanks, that my next prot of call, I have got a sparky that I use, so will try them next.

What is the land which the cable will cross? Will it matter if it is dug up (e.g. bowls green)?

Hiring a mini-digger will be less than a mole I expect.

The land it has to go across is tamac, but shared access. Would a mole be able to go from my back garden to the garage without damaging the tamac, if so would I still have to ask for permission (if it was deep enough) in the shared access part?

Thanks again for the quick replys

Dunno.

75m of tarmac?

Check with the mole companies.

Check with a lawyer.

And make b****y sure the mole won't burrow through any existing underground services....
