Hi all

I'm getting my house modernised and getting an electrician I know to do the work for next changing sockets, lights, some wiring etc.

He is not Part P registered so my understanding is he can't sign the work off himself afterwards and that we would need to get someone to sign it off and issue s certificate afterwards.

Could someone just confirm this is correct and if so who , other than a local council for example could inspect the work and issue ceefifcertion?

Thank you
Mark

No, it is not.

Any electrician can and must issue certificates for all work he has done.

However, IF any of the work is notifiable to the Local authority,
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2012/3119/regulation/6/made
then for those parts of the work EITHER,

you must notify them and pay a hefty fee before the work starts, OR

employ a registered electrician to supervise the work throughout .
