I'm planning 2 bathrooms and would like to use one inline extractor for both (if it's electrically feasible), operating from either lighting circuit. Are there approved relays available to do such a job that a sparkie could use?

If you do this then you must put a backdraft shutter in the duct from both bathrooms, before the fan.
Otherwise smelly air from bathroom 1 will be drawn into bathroom 2.
And you might not want that to happen!

Not quite - your thinking of having a two fans and a single wall grill, back draught shutters would then be required.

With a single fan, and single wall grill, no back draughts required - the single fan will pull on both room vents at once.

A larger fan should obviously be used.

Even with a single fan it is a good idea to fit back draft shutters to stop odours moving from one room to another when the fan is not running. One room with its door open and the other with a window open and the pressure differential could easily blow air from one room into the other.

Two fans is the better option.
