Electrics tripping

Under the floor.

Looks like the cable had a nick in it (there was a small flap of plastic that I pulled off).

Can only assume it had been like that since it was installed but I would have thought it would have given trouble before now?

I meant where with respect to the FCU and the socket.

Yeah but it's been in four years.

It was about halfway along the cable between the two.

And could have been being gently abraded each time someone trod on the right place in the floor, until a fault arose.

No idea. I didn't take the floor up because it's tiled I just pulled the cable out. The amount of cable that was under there was quite a bit more than the distance it had to travel so I don't think it was tight to the joists.

OK, so replace that length of cable, and give it a go.
