hi, just had my worktop cut out for this hob but think the fitting instructions been thrown away by mistake.will i need to use any sort of sealant just under the outer edge of the hob or should the hob have some sort of foam type trim to sit on (if so this also been thrown!) can i buy this if its needed.

I would think it advisable to treat it as a sink, ie., smear sealant around the cut out & seal between the work top & the hob, to prevent spills getting underneath.

Buy the proper stuff. If you use sealant it's going to be a pig to get out if it ever needs repair.

If you stick some double sided tape on the underside of the hob edges but leave the backing paper on the outer surface of the tape you can use silicone sealant without risk of it preventing later removal of the hob. There should also be four brackets and screws which clamp the underside of the hob to the underside of the worktop.

Sealant is fine to use - and it wont be too much of a nightmare to remove the hob if you need to replace/renew.

Use a clear sealant though - as it doesn't get mucky!

Silicone is a nightmare to remove. I've seen too many broken hob tops over the years. It got so bad we were told to refuse to touch the hob and the customer had to get it out for repair.
Use the proper stuff or as Fidom suggests.
