Hi,

My Electrolux cooker hood has stopped (no power, no lights).

There is a power on/off switch on the kitchen wall marked cook hood.

There isn't an individual switch on the main fuse for the cooker hood.

Where would the fuse be located?

Thanks for any help.

If there isn't a pull out fuse on the kitchen wall switch, then the cooker hood shares another fuse in the consumer unit.
Therefore, you have to test the wire going from the switch to the cooker hood (with great care).
This way, you'll see which fuse is shared and can be isolated for maintenance.

Thanks Burnerman,

There is a fuse on the consumer unit for cooker, so I guess that will be it. But it's working fine.

That cooker fuse should be for the cooker alone - with the exception of the wires terminating in a wall fixed cooker switch and socket......its not a good idea to share that fuse, but I'm sure it happens all the time!

I can't say I've ever seen a 4 way array of switches like that....there sure could be quite a bit of current flowing through it!
No matter - if you have a mains testing screwdriver you can check for power entering the hood switch first, and then ascertaining that the power is actually leaving when the switch is on.
Carefully does it!

A pic of the rear of the switch & wiring would have been more helpful, but assuming all the rest of the appliances connected to it are working ok then it would seem the supply to it is ok. You really need a multimeter to measure volts to check that the switch is good, as mains tester drivers can be very misleading.
