I have painted over silk painted walls with Dulux matt emulsion and when it had dried some parts of the wall and room corners had a cracked crazy paving effect, although smooth to the touch and not peeling.

Anybody help?

cheers

If the crazing is confined to smaller areas which have previously been caulked or glossed, those finishes could be the underlying cause - but from what you describe, it doesn't sound like that.

If the new paint in crazing in patches over the walls, it sounds as though you did not rub the silk finish down sufficiently to provide a good key for the matt to adhere to. (The whole point of silk is that it is slippy/silky - although it's good practice to rub ANY surface down before re-painting, even new plaster).

Sand the affected areas really well (this will mean removing your new matt in the process) then re-coat with the new paint.

Did you rub it down at all? If not, then other areas may follow suit and craze...so it might be simpler at this stage to rub down whole wall and re-paint, rather than doing it in patches, which might not give a professional finish.

Good luck!
