Engine Revs

Just got a Focus Zetec 1.8, but noticed that the engine revs at 70mph are higher than the last car I had which was a 1.6. Can this be right?

In the 1.6 (Peugeot 307) I was on 2750, but the Focus at 70 it's pulling 3250. Seems high to me for a 1.8.

Any comments would be appreciated

Geared differently to take advantage of a different power curve.

because of the gearing. some cars are slower on take off and better top end. is your focus faster acceleration than your other car? if so just geared differently for that reason.
