Hi All,

I'm about to install engineered flooring throughout my flat (except bathroom and kitchen).

As you can see from the attached diagram of the layout, it's only a one bedroomed flat and I'd like to run the planks all the way through from the living room through the hall and into the bedroom, without breaks, as this would help the flat 'flow' to the eye.

I understand the logic of treating each room separately normally as each room would have different temperatures, humidity, etc, but as the flat is quite small would it be possible to do it without door trims ? I would leave at least 10mm expansion gap at each end.

Any advice gratefully received,

Duncan

yes it looks o.k to me, make sure you leave expansion every where like the door frames etc (you need to undercut them) and also the stairs.

I would leave a minimum of 15mm expansion.

I'm a bit worried about the landing going into the two other rooms without a flat divider. That could the point where things could go wrong - boards twisting because different "space" to expand to

Do as mattysupra says and leave wide enough gaps especially under those two doorways.

Yes it would be ideal if there was flat strips, but i would say as its enginnered and the correct expansion is left i would say its o.k.
