Hi,

In our new extension the central heating supply pipes are plastic, yet at the floor level they become copper for the short distance up to the new radiators (obviously also metal). Does this small amount of pipework need to be bonded, or is this not required?

The house has been recently rewired so is otherwise all up to current regs. The electrician did the second fix for the electrics in the extension before the heating was installed, so I forgot to ask about this small issue, and he may not have realised that the radiator end would be finished in copper.

Any comments would be most helpful.

Thanks.

Supplimentary bonding is only required in a location contaning a bath or shower.

Main bonding is only required if any metallic parts enter the equipotenial zone.

So in your case no earthing / bonding is required

OK. Super - always worth checking!

Equally I suppose that where the plumber Tee'd off the central heating in plastic will not need a earthing link, for the reasons that you mention?
