Erase old/wrong email addresses

I have BT Yahoo for my mail, how can I erase email
addresses from my list that are old or incorrect,
I have tried highlighting them and entering delete
but it remains in the list!!
any input please

Go to your E-mails.

Click on contacts box, to the right of whats new, and inbox.

Click all contacts.

Tick box of those you wish to delete.

Too the right you will see a delete box appear, click this box.
