I have a 2 bed semi and the guttering appears to be in a poor state. I can see weeds growing out of the gutters and also there are a few leaks at the joints (one being over the front door!).

What would be a rough cost to get the gutters cleaned out and re-sealed. They are the usual half circle PVC guttering.

Also what kind of price would it be to replace the entire guttering system?

cheers all.

(Anyone in Manchester fancy a guttering job?)

I live in a 3 bed mid-terraced Edwardian house and I've just had the guttering front and back replaced - it cost £445.

in that case i am going to get a big pair of ladders and replace them myself.

Well, i will clean them out first and then i'll see if i can replace them, i'll learn to walk before i run!

If you're thinking of doing it yourself and you've got got cast iron guttering - watch it!! It's heavy. I found this out while at the top of a ladder holding onto a 10' length. Not a good time to discover that. Thankfully I was holding it in the centre and I was able to balance. Putting the plastic up is a doddle - just have to go up and down the ladder a lot.

Another time I had just got to the top of the soil stack when that decided to part company with the rest of the pipe work and it rolled over my head on its way down to the ground. If I'd been one rung rung lower it would have knocked me out and I wouldn't be tapping this out today.

So the motto is - take care with it. :)

I've just did mine a week or so ago. It was full of muck and had a, quite respectable, 'lawn' growing out of it.
Even the plastic stuff weighs a lot when full of sh*t.
The point made above about loose pipes should be noted. A section of my neighbours guttering decided to return to mother earth as soon as I took my lot down. So, be prepared.

I will be cleaning the old stuff out first. I have been pricing up the guttering and the B&Q pricing for the square brown Flowmaster pipes was ridiculous. It was about £7.50 for a 4m length.

After browsing around the net I found www.fascias.com and they were quite cheap. Approx £90 to supply all gutters, fixings, unions, downpipes, etc. Not too bad i think, has anyone had experience of this website or any other cheap places to get guttering from?

I found www.mrplastic.org the cheapest and good quality. Give them a ring for your nearest stockist.
