EU calling for respect.

Boris might be back in the autumn. That would shake things up!
I think it’s unlikely he has enough allies in the party, he tried to come back in 2022 but couldn’t get the numbers.

Added to which Johnson would need to win a bye election and there’s no guarantee he would win.

How can it be stopped?

Knee jerk answer : build more houses.
Reduced demand equals reduced price.
Would need additional measures, but would be a start.

Would we even want to?

Who wants high rates of house price appreciation?

Investors.
Those who already own, and want to feel wealthy.
Those who are already on the ladder, and want to climb it further (not appreciating that, as their house goes up £150k, their next move has gone up £250k).
For them, it truly is a rat race.
Chill for goodness sake.

Building more houses wouldn't necessarily stop other houses appreciating in value i.e. mainly those in nicer areas/settings.

I didn't say I wanted high rates of appreciation to continue, having said that I see absolutely nothing wrong with a degree of appreciation, however I don't like the idea of caps.

In my view what we need, as touched on by Notch, is more council housing that is retained as council housing i.e. can't be sold into the private market.

poor old notch thinks the press made up the results
I am saying Reform got lots of voted because loads of naive people fell for the lies of right wing populism

I bet 99% of them are brexit voters.............fools that got conned once are now lining up to get conned again

That's very interesting. I've not heard anything from Andrew Neil for years, but he was certainly somebody whose opinion I respected.
He appears to be saying he never accused Buffoon of lying.

Strange, if he didn't.
