ISONE, MISO, PJM, and NYISO have all seen huge wholesale electricity price increasesin 2025 compared to 2024 (40-80% increases year over year)

that shows electric prices rose by 35% over 5 years (which will be equiv to just over 6% per annum) and they still remain half that ours are

Surprising read tonight. WTAF?
yes - sadly we still use huge amounts of russian oil and (gas?) - and yet we are expecting trump to put sanctions on Russia whilst parts of europe (turkey ?) are still enjoying cheap russian energy

I understand where trump is coming from - when we impose sanctions, he will do the same, to an outsider this must seem a reasonable demand.

there is a lot about trump I don't care for - but sometimes I have to say, he has a point!

Those are wholesale prices not retail, the retail price for electricity has increased by 4% this year, in the previous 4 years the increase was much higher, not as dramatic as your figures granted(y)

On average

Have a look at some of the most expensive states, people are getting electricity bills that are more than their mortgage…ie $700, $900 some are $1200

It may on average be cheaper than ours, but it is still a massive increase for Americans
Also you forget they use considerably more electricity in their homes….A/C

It is the cost of distribution that has soared in price not kWh prices

Distribution makes up 50% of their bills now

Also average prices don’t tell the whole story, some states have way higher prices

Some Americans are finding they are getting bills that are just unaffordable

what makes you think i forgot ?

I would not consider 35% over 5 years (an average of 6% per year) a big increase, over that same 5 years mine has went up from 12.86p to 23.15p and increase of 80%

how much they use - well that is up to them, considering climate change it would be a good thing if the used a lot less

and may be; "Also you forget" - the US carbon footprint is double what our is
