Can you change a 2 pin European plug for a three pin uk plug or should you use an adapter. :?:

Yes & Yes.
If you want a permant uk plug, cut of European & connect 13amp

yes you can, well, I can.. I've no idea of your level of competence :)

should be the same core colours since they made us conform.. ( back off brussels.. )

brown to live, blue to neutral..

depending on the type of euro plug you can get snap over adapters for them.. ( the thin ones, not the big round ones.. )

In most circumstances yes.

Check the appliance is rated for use at 230V (Which AFAIK all of europe uses)

You will need to fit a fuse properly rated for your appliance into the UK plug.

<edit>

You will need to double check the appliance is double insulated if there is no earth wire in the appliance flex. (most plastic cased stuff is D.I.)

There should be this symbol somewhere on the fitting to indicate that it is.

It is a metal freeview box which DOES have the DI symbol on the back.

Says 90 volt- 250 volt and is 25 watts. Is a 3 amp fuse too big as I have forgotten how you work it out?

Thanks to all

3 amp will be fine.

If it has the DI symbol on it then no need to worry about it not having an earth wire.

This is quite common for this sort of equipment

:D

huh... knew they did one for the flat plugs, didn't know they did one for the round plug..

does the round plug one earth it too since the round plugs benerally have earths on them.. tends to be the heavier stuff like fridges etc..

Look carefully at the first piccy- there is a brass contact inside the plugtop that connects with the earth contacts on the Schuko plug.
