Hi folks,

Went to the local 'ideal homes' exhibition last weekend with my better half.
We have a home, we'd like it to be ideal, seemed to make sense.

In anycase we came across this, an Evaporator System as an alternative to a heat pump. Now as I live in the south-west of Ireland, where rain is not unheard of, this seems to good to be true. A system that converts humidity into heat, that has very low running costs.

The vendor in question was pitching me this for roughly 15k installed.

Does this actually work ? how?

The evaporator is part of a heat pump system, the part that absorbs heat from the heat source. It cannot operate without being part of a heat pump system

Furthermore, the evaporator output can be steplessly adjusted via the fully-modulated operation of the fan.
The exclusive OVi technology in the associated Golf plus (GMLW plus) heat pump together with the OCHSNER Millennium® split evaporator enables a coefficient of performance (COP) of 4.2 (peak value - measured at L2/W35 with a 10 K spread in the Heat Pump Test Centre in Buchs/ Switzerland).
