Thought I would carry on the debate that was locked, presumably because it was OT.

My thoughts are that language is a living, breathing, evolving thing. It has always been thus.

"Verily I will not forsake thee...."

Some people accept these changes and use them, others choose not to. That is how it has always been.

At least there is a great choice of words in the English Language and you can choose which of them you use.

Unlike other areas of life where things change and you are forced to change with them.

There will always be some words that are misunderstood.

In parts of Staffordshire, "starving" can mean cold, not hungry.

Yes we live in a world where the young kids talk another language.

Sick now means cool, awesome

Sentences now begin with So

As for the poor old apostrophe......

Worst of all is the word: anti semitism :ROFLMAO:

:)

Ok. I shall have to learn to live with my giraffes; the local chemist has no giraffe powder.

The logical outcome of this is that English will be just a random collection of words meaning whatever the speaker intends.

Let's hope it will be disastrously good and hopelessly beneficial.

No more correcting DIYers when they ask about putting their switches into plugs and the fuse trips.

Eye fought ewe wood of a greed but knowall is lossed.

Poor oracy, aka talking like a chav from the 'hood is not evolving language. Its just being thick.

Gadzooks how t'rrible mine own fusty cousin...

Its a good thing.. I personally have no problems with sentences without subjects (as per the original OP). Language needs to evolve. Nobody uses the informal you in English anymore and it makes our language a lot easier to learn (unless you're French). Slang will always be slang and it will never become mainstream unless its been replaced by new slang.

i have seen mention of these long-necked creatures, but know not what you mean.
Aren't they small furry things which were once on star trek?
No, they are little black insects which come in under my skirting board.

I'm not sure why you didn't understand.
After all, I only used one word incorrectly.
I thought that didn't matter because it's only the language evolving.

I noticed another one this morning.

Several times Adrian Childs said things like "he didn't comment as well" instead of either.
