Apologies in advance for the tedious question. I did already check in the wiki and this particular problem seems not to have been covered.

Previously I had 2 ceiling lights in one small room - this was too many (probably around about double my requirements).

Our decorator terminated one of the lights but left us with the double switch.

I now would like a) to fit the single switch and b) not to kill myself

Any help would be more than appreciated but I can imagine that such a basic task may bore many of you rigid.

Put the red and yellow in the new switch

Pull the red sleeve over the blue end.

Looks like the decorator was a good boy

Gotcha, thanks Andy. I hadn't grasped that that was just a sleeve.

Many thanks indeed for such a swift response

Oh ok I'll get one tomorrow Sparky. Thanks gents. What a brilliant resource this is. If any of you ever need any tips as to how to make a tv programme don't hesitate to ask. That's all I can offer in return I'm afraid!

Nah - forget sitcoms.

Can you wave a magic wand and put a total and permanent end to all the "reality" shows which are anything but, as they are stuffed from opening music to closing credits with artificially constructed "real" scenarios deliberately designed, in the feeble minds of the producers, to entertain by lying to the audience about their veracity.
