Existing Wiring on a Rewire

Hi Guys
can anyone tell me, if a rewire is carried out, except say the existing central heating wiring (done by possibly the plumbers who installed the C/H.) is it mandatory to test the C/H. wiring? Would any faults have to be recorded /rectified?
