I've spent over £350 on specialist professional builders wear

I have to say the easiest company in the world to buy from was Wickes, if you changed your mind or found that a size didn't fit they would even come back and collect it and that was free although I'm not certain it's always free for them to collect - Wickes were just so streamlined and I would definitely recommend them

The worst I found was Amazon.co.uk - generally it was found to be difficult and complicated to try to send anything back.

Like what? Armani knee pads and hard hat...I buy the odd item on line...found no problems.

I hate trailing around shops so online shopping has been a Godsend for me. Can't really remember ever having any major problems - maybe the odd thing on Ebay, but they always sort out problems so never been stung. Sites like Ebay have saved me a fortune over the years.

Then there's the time, effort and money saved travelling around looking for exactly what I want when there's a massive choice on the screen in front of me. Often items are less than high st prices, sometimes considerably cheaper. Then it gets delivered to your door. Tool Station used to be great because they would deliver for purchases over a tenner, but they've raised the limit recently. Wickes are good for delivery of large stuff, I buy fence panels, doors, rads from them.

Can't fault online shopping, but do feel guilty about demise of high st. Though I do poss by more clothes from high st than online, especially jackets, shirts and trousers. I'm quite tall so often these items are too short in the arm/leg so prefer to try them on first.

You see I do like my designer work gear......

Snickers trousers I can get at ITS but more of a choice on line. So much choice of boots online other than the crap you can buy from screwfix. There really is a difference in quality Cofra for example.

I'll only buy branded stuff online as there is so much crap out there.

2 x track suit bottoms: £25 each - £50
2 x builders quilted/padded shirts: £25 each - £50
3 x branded work trousers eg Wrangler, Carrhart, Scruffs technical work = £75 (Approximately) each - £225
2 x branded "Lee Cooper" general work trousers with plastic button flys: £25 each - £50
1 x Professional Scruffs boots - £50 - £50
Professional builders socks brand: CAT - £10 for 3 in a pack - £10
Professional builders grade beanie hat brand: "Thinsulate" - £10 - £10
Scruffs - thermal tights and thermal top - £30 for them both - £30
Scruffs - Gillet - £50

Total cost: £325 + £100 + £100 = £525 grand total on builders wear

I couldn't agree more Bodd I've tried "regular" clothes but they are no where near as comfortable and long lasting. I think I'll get good wear out of this kit. I've heard Snickers are top quality as well as https://www.engelbert-strauss.de/. The main bit of research that helped me was learning to have trousers that were comfortable and to have lighter work boots. Mottie told me about Cofra for example which I think are made by Helly Hanson and they do half sizes so I'm thinking of getting a pair - His model cost about £75 I think

Ok to be fair it was someone who was trying to return some stuff for me that said they found it too difficult so perhaps it is easier than I think

Well I'm not a professional builder per se but I'm a professional builders semi skilled labourer working with professional tradesman doing 8 til 4 alongside them

There is truth to both sides of this story.

For a limited time, you have access to a returns button on the goods you order from Amazon.

Then it disappears.
So if you have reason to return an item within the guarantee period, you cannot, without contacting Amazon and requesting a return.

This is why you see a lot of reviews saying something like, "could not return it so it went in the bin."
