Hello,
After a bit of advice with our narrow galley kitchen.
Its a single storey kitchen extension built in late 1980s. Ceiling height is 15cm lower than the original house. Its not very well insulated but its the lack of light and height despite the 3 windows and glazed door thats the problem.
It has a loft hatch inbuilt so access is not a problem.
Nextdoor which shares the pitched roof has just had a rear extension built on to theirs and their builder confirmed the wall division is sound as are the ridge tiles etc.

What im thinking is -
a) Remove the ceiling to expose the joists and beams. (sanding/painting) to creat a cathedral style roof.
Adding two sky lights but they would have to be only 400mm to fit between the joists.
b) Part remove the ceiling and a couple of joists (with new supports?) and adding 1 skylight
Replastering and proper insulation. It can be quite cold in the winter.
Or is it just more practical to have a new roof built from scratch and add in the sky lights and raised ceiling.
