We are proposing to extend an existing flat roof to the front of our property.
Currently there is a single storey flat roof extension 2m deep approx. 15 years old which we want to bring forward an extra 4m. I was wondering whether the best option would be to replace the whole roof i.e. new joists, water proof membrane etc or to add to the extg flat roof. If so would this require a drop in level of 150mm to make sure that it remains watertight?
We have applied for planning permission so this has been covered.
Many thanks

If the existing cover is 15 years old, then it need replacing and so you may as well connect to the existing, at the same level and re-felt the whole lot.

You may have to re-deck it too and increase the furrings to get the correct fall
