extending outside tap by 100ft

I currently have an outside tap on the back of the house. I would like to put a new tap at the end of the garden (100ft). Can you help me with a few questions.

1. How do I extend from the pipe leaving the house, cost effectively.
2. I did think of burying a hosepipe, but can't work out how to get reliable terminal fittings.

I am also thinking of building an outbuilding in the next 1-2 years (office & workshop). I am thinking of putting a toilet in it, so would seriously consider putting a spur onto the extended pipe for this too, and blank it off for the time being.

Can anyone offer me any help?

Yes.

By using the right amount of pipe and fittings, and doing it right first time.

Perhaps just bury some non-barrier Hep2o - that way you have a multitude of choices regarding fittings.

Blue 20mm/25mm MDPE would seem the obvious choice, which I imagine should be buried the same depth as the pipe from the road, 750mm deep. (If I was doing it for me though I wouldn't bother going that deep!)

So are there no rules/regs for pipes down the garden? I am putting in a leccy cable to my garage, which will be 500mm, can a water pipe share the same trench? How would be best to insulate?

Also part of the cable will be run under the patio, is this wise with water pipe or do I have to dig thru the hardcore and run it deeper?

Yes there are, the suggestions have all been within regulations (almost). If not laid at minimum of 750mm deep then it must be ducted and insulated.

Yes, but it must be at least 200mm to the side of, and not less than 350mm radial distance from the water pipe. The water pipe should also be lower than the electricity pipe.

How would be best to insulate?

The insulation thickness would depend on the depth that the pipe is being laid to. Insulation must be class zero & water resistant [example would be "Armaflex(tm)", which is black nitrile rubber]
