Hi so hopefully this weekend I'll be levelling floor joist to existing house floor.
If say the 1 of the masonry hangers I used is 1 or 2 mm out .is it OK to use plastic packers under the joist in hanger?

I'm not saying they are. Just trying to get it bang on

1mm thick you could cut a bit off a spare hanger to pack that. But the floor boards you use probably have similar tolerance anyway

The plastic packers will be fine, and then nail in from the sides.

Most of the current plastic packers that they sell nowadays don't seem to be compressible, and unless there is a high degree of loading on that particular joist, if it should compress, and would only drop by about half a mill, so I don't think it would be an issue. You reckon that slate would be better, or what else would you suggest.

I'd suggest not worrying about 1mm when a level can be 0.5mm out per metre.

Or use sandpaper where the boards meet.
