Extension Foundations

i would speak to the building control. they will be helpful and give good info. as for planning if its been up for more than 12 years (i think) its deemed to have permission even if it officially hasnt. it may come under a permittedf development anyway. i still cant see any great problems with a new extension, as it will have its own foundations. you may get movement problems but youll gt that with a new extension anyway

Agreed, normally we dig under the ex-footing approximately 18" to give it a extra support when digging the new trench. I have done many footing on Canvey Island where there have no footing and just floating footing type instead because of ground movement.
