I live in an 1885 house and had some landscapers round to do the patio. When levelling the patio, they said that they could see there has been some movement in the brickwork at some point (not sure when?). This is on the 2 storey extended part of the house, again unsure if this was part of the original design or added later.

I have put some pictures below of the wall and I have noticed a slight crack in a couple of the bricks above the light.

The wall in question needs to be repointed and the vent replaced, but just don't want there to be any larger problems.

Do I need to be concerned?

Thanks

Looks like an old vent hole/or where they slid a steel beam in? not toothed in, nothing to worry about, when you have it repointed get the brick replaced.

Thank you. It definitely needs repointing but do the bricks that are there all look alright and in line?

Brickwork looks ok, you may need a few replaced, so try and get some from reclaimation yard before pointers start, and get rid of that paint on bottom, and make sure it's pointed in lime mortar.
