Exterior Door Surround - Replacing

I am buying a property where the surrounds of the front door have become damaged (pics below).

The wooden frames seem fine, but the "seal" that surrounds the door needs to be replaced. Could someone advise me what type of seal these are, as im a little unsure what to use.

I am planning on sanding down and re-painting the door and frames.

Help appreciated.

It looks like the paint has simply come away rather than the wood being damaged, but that may just be the photo. Strip the paint back with a hot air gun and see what you're left with.

As above.
Besides the paint it looks like red linseed mastic has been used.
The door could do with coming off and being sanded and coated properly.
Before sanding & prepping remove all furniture including the weather bar.

FWIW: running up vertical by the opening LH jamb injection holes can be seen?
