Now the sun is out im about to embark on decorating the outside of my house.
It is fully rendered and has had horrible ivy grown up over it.
I have taken the ivy down and scrapped the remaining tendrills off (long job) though you can still see the remnants.

I intend to use a fungicidal wash solution also to remove the green growth patches then paint.

Just after advise really from the pro's in regards to which brand paint to use. I want it to be long lasting, well as long as possible so any ideas on brands; Dulux Weathershield / Sandtex or any others that work. dont mind paying for a better quality as it will save time and money in the long run.

I am going to possibley use the Sadolin Opaque finish on the windows, any good?

I personally would use the Dulux "All seasons" masonry paint. Its pliolite based (oil based) and is rain proof in 15 mins. It is dearer but it is a very good paint. Others may have their own favourite brand. :D

maybe you could try, using the fugi wash/weedkiller in a power wash. This might help to remove the remaining ivy. If that fails, and the ivy can still be seen, you might want to consider using a textured masonry paint instead. This will help to reduce the appearance of any unsightly or uneven surfaces,(This is also available in dulux). The weathershield all seasons is great, but it is still only smooth and will not hide any imperfections any better than the normal water-based masonry.

As for the sadolin,..That is also a great product, But, If you would like a more superior product, I would go with sikkens.

I hope this helps. :)
