Hi Looking for some info regarding painting the exterior walls of an old cottage , the walls are constructed of part brick, stone and smooth render in various areas which is not a problem but the rear wall has been coated previously from ground level up to roof height with bitumin from what neighbours tell me was done about 30/40 years ago, it is still sound apart from one small area (approx 4sqm} that is flaking due to a downpipe being broken and overflowing,(now repaired)
As this wall takes the full brunt of all types of weather previous owner apparantly thought this would be a good idea, it doesnt appear to do much apart from look ugly
Id like to if possible cover this over with masonary paint but what could i use to prime/seal with first, this wouldnt be done now untill next spring , I have thought of ways of getting it removed but they come out expensive, so im looking for a cheaper option Many thanks if anyone can help

It does say in the blurb you can paint over weathered bituminous surfaces. I've never used it over bitumin and always thought it to be a non reversable coating ie once bitumined always bitumin, but coatings have come a long way in the last few years, i reckon it would work and you have a few choice of colours as well i think, its good stuff.

Hi many thanks for info, ill contact them and see what they say,
It certaintly looks very promising, once again thanks
