Hi Looking for some info regarding painting the exterior walls of an old cottage , the walls are constructed of part brick, stone and smooth render in various areas which is not a problem but the rear wall has been coated previously from ground level up to roof height with bitumin from what neighbours tell me was done about 30/40 years ago, it is still sound apart from one small area (approx 4sqm} that is flaking due to a downpipe being broken and overflowing,(now repaired)
As this wall takes the full brunt of all types of weather previous owner apparantly thought this would be a good idea, it doesnt appear to do much apart from look ugly
Id like to if possible cover this over with masonary paint but what could i use to prime/seal with first, this wouldnt be done now untill next spring , I have thought of ways of getting it removed but they come out expensive, so im looking for a cheaper option Many thanks if anyone can help
