I have just bought one of these, SSTDS03, to replace an old mechanical type which failed. The instructions state "This is not a 2-wire switch and requires neutral connection', and has L in and L out, and N. As the existing is just a 2+E wire switch lead, this poses some difficult logistical problems in rewiring with a 3+E. I don't want to blow it up by trying, so am I being optimistic in thinking that it might work connecting the switch wires to L in and L out and forgetting about the N?
TIA

Optimistic is not the right word.

If it needs a neutral to work then, of course, it will not work without one - any more than the lights would.

As expected thanks, I did think of cheating and using the - unused - earth, but my leccy friend would shoot me!
