Hi,

The Paint is peeling off of the exterior wall, it's quite thick and plasticy so leaves quite a visible line between where the paint is and the bare render. M

jfwibberley, good evening.

From the images posted, it is not "just" peeling paint" if you look closely it appears that there is an entire thin layer of thin [cementous?] material.

It appears that this thin top layer has De-bonded from the render, unfortunately once this process commences it probably will not stop.

The causation is more difficult to determine, could be that there was no or inappropriate surface preparation of the render prior to the application of the smooth thin top coat?

Hi,

I think it is just paint, It's very thick, it's not normal masonry paint it's very thick and plasticy. The only solution that I can think is to pull it all off and start fresh.

OK. Paint is measured in Microns.

What you have here is some sort of "coating" not simply a paint, the images posted appear to indicate that the material is several Millimetres thick ?

Agree you will need to pull this coating off totally.

Is the coating "flexible"? or is it brittal ?

Ah right. Yeah it's flexible. It's probably around 2 - 3 mm thick
