Would the (Nat. Grid?) be happy to pipe the new meter in if I mounted the new box directly above the meter? i.e. would they extend the pipes upwards to meet the new box, which would be c. 450mm above the ground?
I am quite surprised they have left it in that condition. For one thing there is not the usual bracket whose purpose is to prevent you turning the meter round and geting free gas.
I think the national grid is nuts for walking away from this in this state.
I suppose it's somewhere down south. i saw masses of meter boxes with no doors in London. the Transco blokes when I called them for ecv's which were out of reach or too stiff on barrel in blocks of flats grumbled at me.
Sorry but my job is to ensure the tenant is safe, if he can't turn off the gas he isn't safe.
