As a result of having underground services carried out by the Water Authorities contractors, the excavations showed a copper gas feed that fed the cooker and is sunk in the concrete floor of the kitchen extension. The extension was built prior to 1987 when we moved in.Although its been under there a lot of years,we are now aware of it and not that confident. It's been suggested by a local corgi lad that he can run the pipe down the external wall and thru' the wall to the rear of the cooker.Originally, we only had one mains water stop tap that serviced 11 houses on a victorian terraced street.so because of the work we were doing on the house,I thought "I know we will have our own stop tap.Water now spot on and we can turn it on and off when we want, but the wife is not happy with this gas pipe. The question is:Is it an accepted safe practice these days to run the gas externally as suggested.(it's definitely a lot cheaper than the other two alternatives.)and he seems to have have a decent reputation. Thanks for any advice.
