A few (not very good) pics of part of an install i've beeen on. This box was on an external wall supplying lights. When i removed the cover and all the water had drained out this is what was left!!

how it never stopped working i've no idea
 
kind of fruitless if it was as the box is sideways and those type of glands aren't water proof at all..
 
The 'Gunge' must have been an attempt to seal it. The T&E was snapable all along its length!!!

BAS was on an RCD!!! That is what i could not work out, tested the RCD and it is fine?!?!?!?!???!?!?!!?

The only thing i can think is that the 'gunk' was sufficiently sealing the cable to stop it tripping?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Wait until next week going to a so called 're-wired' house to do PIR, nearly ****ed myself when i opened the cupboard
