I have a texecom system and was thinking of fitting external pirs.

We have a lot of petty crime in our area at the moment (coming from local estates onto the new build area) such as trying front doors and cars etc.

My thought process is to fit an external pir to trigger the chime if it was activated. I would have these set as a separate area on the alarm (area c) and wouldn’t want them triggering a full alarm condition.

Has anyone used these before? If so how reliable are they and do you get a lot of false alarms from animals etc?

Thanks in advance

I have an external PIR connected to separate bell inside the garage. It's timed to ring for about five seconds. It can be heard inside the house and outside so an intruder knows they have been detected. The only spurious alarm is when a fox passes by, but I have found that they now avoid it, probably don't like the noise.

Interesting Sally.

You could do latch key monitor only.

This way you would get a feel for how it behaved and then change it if needs be. If you have an app you would be notified.
