External Render/Brick Work...best way to fix?

Hi, Im hoping someone would be able to give me some advice on how to fix this blown (?) broken render on an external wall. My Dad suggested scrubbing it all down and applying SBR (?) then applying new render. A lot of the render is hollow when tapped, so I'm scared to start working on it incase the whole lot crumbles off!

I just need to get it sorted asap as we have good weather just now, and before the rain comes back and soaks into the walls.

Any advice would be really appreciated!
