Hi
I have power running to my shed from the house, it has a cu in the shed consisting of one 6amp mcb for the lighting and one 16amp mcb for a double socket, there is also a rcd in the unit as well.
I would like to add an external socket to run a small 350 watt water pump for the water butt.
If I get the waterproof socket does it need to have a built in rcd or is not nessarsary as there is one in the cu.
Thanks

Not necessary - in fact it would be a bad idea.

What voltage is the pump?

And do you realise that installing the socket is notifiable?

Make sure the socket you get can be closed with the pump plug in it.

Otherwise you'll need to unplug whenever it rains!

Why don't you get the real thing?

Cheaper isn't likely to be better, and the difference between IP56 and IP66 won't make the slightest difference.
