Do all weatherproof sockets require entry from the sides or top or bottom ?

Somehow I imagined that a rear entry wouldn't have been the more obvious, until I looked at one.

would you consider that water runs:

1) downwards

2) sideways

3) upwards

now, I am sure you answer your own question.

It has provision for a drain hole. and out the back isn't that much different to out the side, for which a push out is available.

But I'll take that as none provide a back entry hole then.

i used a weatherproof adaptable box once, and that had 2 rear entries available, i suppose if you chipped away the brickwork (or whatever) behind, you could make room for a gland there.
