Hi can you help please having proplem with wiring pull cord.
The extractor fan has a timmer so there are 3 terimals T,N,L
and T has to be permantly live so at the pullcord Ive connected it with red live FEED L and blue to N and then LOAD side red to L and blue to N which then go to fan terimals.
The fan turns on but when the cord is pulled off the fan is suposed to run between 30 sec to 30 minutes depending on what ajustment ive set it but it just turns off.
I thought the fan was faulty so i took back and replaced it with same model and still no joy.
below is wiring diagram that came with fan and back of the pull cord which is 45 amp.

the pull cord is disconnecting the N blue wires, so its turning off.

The blue in & out should be connected to the same terminal.

Also T has to go through the switch
and L is permanent live

It might be the way you've described it but it doesn't sound like you've taken a permanent live to your fan.

You need a piece of 3 core and earth from the fan, connect the brown to the supply live of the switch, the black to the live of the load side (sleeve it brown) and the grey to the neutral load (sleeve it blue)

Then at the fan

Brown - L
Grey - N
Black - T

T is not Perm Live, L is Perm Live and T is Switched Live

Plus what Andy just said about switching the neutral, missed that

It's also disconnecting the live. To connect it as the drawing shows you need to have the double pole switched on all the time & another single pole switch between L on the D/P switch shown & T on the fan, to operate it

Looking at your diagram, T is switch live not permanent live, L is permanent live so you've them the wrong way round, and you need to connect neutrals together in the switch

Doh too slow

As Andy has pointed out, the OP is disconnecting the neutral when switching the pull-cord and as above the OP has got Perm/Switch live the wrong way.

Thanks should the two N be on the load side or feed ?

Ideally you should have a two pole isolator before switch, it is likely the manufactures instruction have recommended this, also to be fused down to 3A.

But the reason your fan will not operate as expected is the neutral is being disconnect, it will not matter if the neutrals are together in either feed or load.

You also need to swap the T/L connections.

Problem solved thanks
Two reds to L feed
Two blue to N feed
Black From T to L load
Timer kicks in after turning off. :D

And TBH, it's scary to think that you decided that it would be OK for you to do this work when you didn't already know that.
