I know that most of you will be happy to read that i am going, i am getting fed up with all the "catyness" that goes on on this site, i do not blame you since it is obvious it is as much as you can do to make fun and pick on others.

as i First mentioned i blame the owners of this site, It should be that you can not post without logging on (changes are afoot)but i suppose that they never thought that pepolpe would be so silly as some are.

I have enjoyed my time on this site (except for the afore mentioned)
I may return if / when the forum format changes.

I bear no one any ill, just have a happy new year. And i leave you with this thought.

did you know the moderators delete/ amend posts?

Hmmm.. Ok, but seems a bit extreme !

Perhaps it would help you to grow a thicker skin and try not to take it personally when other people don't share your views, or express themselves in ways which may seem rather silly to you. This is something I have learned over the years. I believe all of my own opinions to be the right ones (of course!!), but I've never met anyone else who shares them all, so I've given up worrying !!

You did ask for opinions, and you got some, of varying quality and professionalism, but that should hardly come as a surprise. For what it's worth, although I gave your original topic a (hopefully not too unreasonable) 'thumbs down', I do respect the sentiment of trying to make DIY a safer activity. But maybe your approach was wrong - people in general, especially a 'certain type of person', will revolt if they think they are being preached to.

I think that offering qualified and detailed input to this forum, is a far better way of stopping the general public from frying themselves - with that in mind, and assuming your goal is still to reduce that risk, then I would stay your best bet is to stick around !

I disagree wholeheartedly with the silly personal nonsense that your topic has generated - you seem on the whole to be knowledgeable and well intentioned, and I would advise you to stick a metaphorical two fingers up to the 'my Dads bigger than your Dad' contingent, have another glass of wine, and switch your PC off for a couple of weeks, by which time only those of us who are serious about giving or seeking advice will still be here.

I think the problem that you have is that you have come across as a patronising know-it-all and it has upset a few people.They come here to ask advice and you tend to reply with words like 'joker' and 'stupid' and telling people they are wrong because your answer is different to theirs.You are obviously fairly knowledgable on a range of issues but you need to give your advice and leave it at that, not consider your reply to be better than any previous postings.DIY'ers are generally intelligent folk so give people a bit of respect and they will respect you. Anyway , you started this whole ball rolling so don't take it home yet, it get's quite entertaining reading all the banter.I for one have no problem with what you say 'cos i'm pretty laid back so like cj says 'grow a thicker skin' and don't take it too serious.
