falling water level in toilet bowl

Ok, so we've had a few people come to look at the toilet now and none have been able to figure out what the problem is.... until a neighbour turned up with a 3ft length of hose pipe, stuffed that through the toilet U bend and then blew as hard as he could... flushed the toilet and it's been fine now for more than 24 hours.

He could give no explanation for why it worked but said his toilet did it in the past and an old neighbour of his told him to do the same thing.

Its obviously some kind of air pressure vaccum that's occured somewhere but it seems to be fixed.

Anyone got any ideas as to why it's happened?

As mentioned - it could be you`ve got a 2 trap syphonic pan  what you did may have had some effect on it - I can`t see it doing anything to a normal wc pan  Can you post a pic. of the water in the pan ;)
