Hi, I have 2007 Fiat Scudo. It runs fine until I drive uphill and starts to lose power . It starts to run normal again when the vehicle gets back on level. Can anyone help?
Thanks Dave

Hopefully just a fuel filter .................
Worth checking the air filter as well, might be dirty?
Then you might consider getting the fault codes read if the filters don't cure the problem. Did you try a different driving style, I think the technical term is "Drive it like you stole it" see if it shows the fault up on the flat?

Power loss in diesels - assuming we aren't talking about clutch slip - is usually due to poor turbo performance, a decrease of fuel pump pressure or maybe an over active EGR valve.....has there been any maintenance carried out of late, or any sign of the management lamp coming on?
John :)

The Cam belt has been changed, but I started to lose power prior to the replacement. I had a new clutch fitted last year.

I have also given it some stick when driving and it goes like a good un until I go uphill.

Lets go for those filter changes first....any garage would do them as a matter
of course anyway.
After that, I would suspect a lack of turbo boost, but that does mean a trip to a diesel specialist, unfortunately.
Does the engine cut out occasionally by any chance?
What's the mileage on the vehicle?
John :)

Hi Burnerman, Thank you for your advice. I took out the air filter which was full of soot and put some Red X down the intake which seemed to clear some muck and then refuelled with high octane diesel. This seems to have worked. I will take it to my local garage and have the fuel filter changed. The car has only done 262000K. I had a new clutch last year and 3 weeks ago replaced the cam belt.
Thank you Dave

Nice one Dave but I think Mursal deserves the credit for that one!
It must have been in some state......thanks very much for the update - it's appreciated.
262k.... wow!
John :)

I'd say its like driving a different car with no air filter in it ...................
You must feel epic?
